Summer Break

An update on what I have been up to over the last month or so.

Update 1

The last month, I have mainly been focussing on my new project, with the first draft completed. I'm planning to take a few weeks off before I pick it back up for further editing.

The plot is great, but I worry it might be a bit long - twice the length of Air Superiority or Compromised. However it's about an endurance cyclist over three seasons, so some length is to be expected. Still, the fine editing will be a battle!

When will I publish it?

At the moment, I am undecided how to approach this one. The positive reviews from Air Superiority have given me confidence, but I don't know whether it is something a traditional agent/publisher would be interested in. I will wait and see, so it may be 2027 before I have a substantial update.

Update 2

So... Whats happening to Renegades? Currently, I am waiting for the plot to settle. I expect to start writing properly around September and smash it out over the winter.

May 2027 is my internal goal for publishing on Amazon!

Update 3

It is summer. I am on (semi-)holiday. I have passed a major professional qualification (I encourage you to look up the EQE for qualifying as a European Patent Attorney - it's mad). I am taking a well earned break.

That doesn't mean I am not writing at all. I have my black notebook with me everywhere I go, and I make sure to write down moments of inspiration as they strike. A darkly funny crime thriller with a brutal twist and a surprisingly feel good ending? A scary psychological thriller with a hint of mysticism? The next instalment in the Corvid Series? The big project? Oh yeah, it's all coming together...

Anyone struggling with writers block or a slump in inspiration, I highly encourage time off. No guilt for not writing, no forcing ideas, just letting the brain breath. It'll come!
