The First Flight
Chapter 2 is done!
Well, no, it inevitably will look completely different once time and editing has worked its magic, but the first pass draft is done. Words are on the page.
It's roughly 10k words like Chapter 1, so I'm at thirty thousand words, already. I may need to dial down my vision for Renegades at this rate.
Air Superiority and Compromised were around 90k words. Would a 120k word count be the end of the world? Probably not, but it's indicative of a pacing problem, so I'll have to keep an eye on it.
Why has it taken me so long?
This chapter was a beast. It was the first chapter that required multiple aircraft doing multiple manoeuvres since Chapter 1 of Compromised. I wanted to make sure it didn't disappoint, and took my time revising who is doing what and where. After the lack of air combat in Compromised, there was a lot of anticipation and internal pressure!
But now I remember why I wrote Air Superiority. The 3D picture is a lot of fun, and it's why I love writing cycling, too. I should have become a DS instead of a patent attorney!
P.S., I'll send a reminder about Air Superiority and Compromised being free later this week, closer to the weekend.
P.P.S., sorry for not updating much. Work is busy, I am fighting off barnehage bugs, and what free time I have has been spent on Chapter 2!
